Intersex Ukraine was founded in 2013 by Julia, an intersex person, to address social isolation and in Ukraine. For the past two years, she has been trying to change the legal gender listed on her passport and is the first intersex person in Ukraine to pursue this. She created Intersex Ukraine to overcome isolation and provide aid to intersex people, and to raise awareness about intersex rights in Ukraine. Intersex Ukraine collaborates with Insight Ukraine, an LGBTQ advocacy group, to provide legal and psychological services for intersex people. The group provides information about intersex issues and intersex rights on a Facebook page called Egalite Intersex Ukraine, and is now working to provide legal, psychological and other assistance to intersex people in Ukraine, create a website (in Russian, Ukrainian, and English) to share information, and create a database of organizations willing to assist intersex people.
