InterAction Suisse was formed on Intersex Awareness Day in October 2017 by four intersex people (three of them under 30 years old) and a mother of an intersex person. In 2016, members Deborah and Audrey met through their participation in a documentary – No Box For Me. It was, for both, a relief. All founding members participated in this film and it was behind the camera that the Swiss Intersex Community was created.
The group’s goals are to create safe spaces for intersex people; to raise awareness through informational and pedagogical content creation, and sharing intersex experiences; and to carry out political activism with the aim to change the status quo and stop IGM. InterAction Suisse works with and for intersex people looking to meet a community of other intersex people. They welcome and help intersex people who often have been lied to for years about their situation and that are now seeking help to find out the truth about themselves (through obtaining their medical records or through community support).
