From 2017 – 2019, eight Kenyan activist and human rights organisations came together to strategise innovative approaches to messaging and advocacy around sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.
We conducted collective research to increase public support for LGBTI communities by learning more about people who have the potential to become supporters, but who have not yet engaged with our messaging. We believe that if we can equip this group to better understand and have greater empathy for LGBTI Kenyans, we will make important progress towards a more just and equitable Kenyan society as a whole.
The goal of this guide is to support each one of us to say the right thing, to the right people, at the right time in order to make the change we want to see in the world. Since as individuals we are as varied as our organisations, this guide is meant to meet you wherever you are:
- If you are unfamiliar with using research and testing to support your messaging, and want to learn more, this guide is for you.
