Vivir y Ser Intersex

Vivir y Ser Intersex (literally, Living and Being Intersex) was initially founded as a blog with the purpose of creating original contents about intersex in Spanish language, since a vast majority of contents online are available only in English.

Vivir y Ser Intersex (literally, Living and Being Intersex) was initially founded as a blog with the purpose of creating original contents about intersex in Spanish language, since a vast majority of contents online are available only in English. Among its goals are: raising awareness of the complexities of being intersex; to create a space to reflect on the need to understand why intersex people rights matter (especially when talking about bodily autonomy and self-determination); educating people on what “intersex” stands for; and the need to change the social structures that impact the life of intersex people in negative ways (stigma, discrimination). The project’s main goal for the next few years is to bring all these ideas to public spaces to create consciousness among physicians, lawmakers and fellow human rights advocates, working along with them to produce an effect on public policies to depathologize intersex traits and ensure physical integrity and bodily autonomy for current and future generations of intersex people, within the Mexican context.

The project’s site has been visited so far by people especially from all over Latin America and Spain, but also from the US and other countries.

Brújula Intersexual

Laura Inter was influenced by its own history and their own experiences as an intersex person and saw the need to share information on intersex issues and improve living conditions of intersex people.

Brújula Intersexual is a project that began as a Facebook page in October 2013. Its creator, Laura Inter, was influenced by its own history and their own experiences as an intersex person and saw the need to share information on intersex issues and improve living conditions of intersex people. Compass goals are to disseminate information and create visibility for all things related to intersexuality. Since most of the information on the subject is written in English, Laura translates it into Spanish and gives more importance to the prospects of intersex people from medical perspectives. The project strives to open a space to provide support and guidance for intersex people and their families, as well as to serve as a meeting point and meeting place for intersex people.
