A donation to Astraea reaches across the globe, fueling campaigns for constitutional protections, combating forced “rehabilitation” clinics for lesbians, and fighting for the right for self-determination for trans people. Very few foundations are supporting the crucial work of LGBTI activists in the U.S. and around the globe—in fact, 0.2% of all foundation dollars nationally support these issues.
Astraea exists to change that. And you can too.
Astraea began with a group of women around a kitchen table, dreaming of a women’s movement that prioritized the needs of lesbians and women of color. Building on that dream, we now fund across the LGBTQI community while still centering queer women, people of color, trans people, and intersex people. We take pride in our history of funding community-led movements for LGBTQI rights worldwide. Astraea continues to shape the landscape of LGBTQI philanthropy. Together, we are moving our world toward justice and liberation for queer, trans, and intersex communities. Join us this Pride season in celebrating 45 years of Astraea.
