This Collective Care campaign blog uplifts how LBTQI organizers are being impacted by COVID-19 and how dynamically and fiercely they are responding and working to protect their people. As a feminist funder it’s our responsibility to keep resourcing LBTQI communities and to do it in ways that are adaptive and responsive to our grantees’ needs and priorities right now. We’re highlighting just how essential collective care and healing justice are for our movements and ourselves – both in order to find ways of moving through this moment, but also in supporting our movements to sustain themselves beyond it.
We’re experiencing this crisis together, yet it’s becoming increasingly blatant how certain communities – LBTQI folks, People of Color, migrants, Indigenous people, ethnic and racial minorities – are being disproportionately impacted as a result of longstanding deep structural inequities around the world. Here, we focus on how best to help our communities heal through resourcing, breaking isolation, and building sustainability and resilience as a praxis.
Below, you’ll hear from a number of Astraea voices, from Program Officers to Development staff, we’ll share grantee stories, funder resources, and much more! We’re digging deep to shift power and support in meaningful, sustainable ways and ‘this blog is exactly that!
