ASTRAEA’S INTERNATIONAL GRANTS PROGRAM Astraea's International Fund for Sexual Minorities was established in 1996, the first institutional fund in the U.S. devoted to supporting LBGTI organizations worldwide. Since its inception, the Fund has invested in innovative LGBTI-led human rights and social change organizations and projects in over 70 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Eastern Europe/Commonwealth of Independent States and the Middle East.

Meet a Grantee: Sindicato de Trabajadores y Trabajadoras Lesbianas, Gays y Bisexuales (Sindicato Luis Gauthier)
(Santiago, Chile)

Sindicato Nacional is a leading organization for LGBT and workers’ movements. It provides research and advocacy for key labor and anti-discrimination legislation pending in the Chilean Congress, and holds labor trainings to build peer support for LGBT workers. At the 2009 World Social Forum in Brazil, it proposed solutions to unions to combat labor discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
