AMHOR is an activist group formed in 1991, which fights against anti-gay violence and for human rights in the cities of Recife and Camaragibe in the Northeast Region of   Brasil.   Their activities include educational forums within the community and public schools; participation in the radio program, You Are A Citizen; and monthly discussion and support groups.

Associação Afins - Grupo de Conscientização e Emancipação Lésbica
São Paulo, Brasil
A lesbian feminist group formed in 1992 to better integrate   Brasilian lesbians suffering from violent discrimination and isolation. Through their quarterly magazine, Femme, they reach out to lesbians by providing information on issues such as discrimination and what can be done about it;  places where lesbians can gather; culture, political and health issues and safe sex.  They currently have over 3,000 readers.

Centro de Documentação E Informação Coisa de Mulher/COLER

Centro is a women's organization serving low-income women, including lesbians. Lesbian Collective of Rio de Janeiro (COLERJ), the name of a subdivision of this group, was formed in 1995 and is the broadest ranging black lesbian group in Brasil.  They conduct seminars that cover education on lesbian and women's identity, health, and domestic, sexual and racial violence. They are in the process of developing a directory of services that address the needs of lesbians.

Chelyabinsk City Public Charitable TAKE CARE Foundation

Take Care Foundation founded in 1991 is an AIDS organization providing moral, psychological and financial support in the Chelyabinsk area. This has been accomplished through the following projects: Women & HIV, Gay Education Assistance, Teenage Peer Education groups and AIDS In Prison targeting young offenders. In 1997, the XL Center was launched to help bring together l/g/b/t populations and provide social and psychological support.

GenderDoc
Moscow, Russia
GenderDoc is a l/g/b/t grassroots group, established in 1994.   They collect, archive and distribute Russian language materials which positively reflect the lives of sexual minorities in Russia and other Former Soviet Union countries.  The most important outcome of GenderDoc's work is their regularly published free information bulletin, Zerkalo,  which is the only publication of its kind. This bulletin publishes bibliographic descriptions for research letters from readers, and advertises seminars and meetings.

Grupo de Jóvenes Gays y Lesbianas

Grupo de Jovenes Gays y Lesbians was founded in 1995 to promote and defend the rights of young l/g/b/t people through activism, support groups and visibility.  They have accomplished this by organizing and participating in events and conferences;  producing publications and facilitating workshops. In collaboration with other l/g/b/t groups, they organized the 5th Pride Day Parade event.

Grupo Dignidade is a grassroots l/g/b/t group founded in 1992 that advocates for the human rights of homosexuals and works to combat AIDS and its affects. They have accomplished this through media, publications, advocating for registered partnerships between persons of the same sex and support of the first openly gay candidate in local elections. Additionally, they have sponsored special AIDS prevention campaigns and run courses for health workers raising awareness regarding people living with HIV & AIDS.

Grupo EstruturAção is a grassroots l/g/b/t group founded in 1994. They advocate for the human rights of homosexuals and awareness of STD's/AIDS. The group holds monthly support groups, safe sex workshops, video sessions and initiated a phone-assistance program.  In June of 1995, the group attended the 17th ILGA meeting in Rio and became a member.  In April of 1996 they were the only l/g/b/t group to attend the First Human Rights National Conference at the National Congress of Brasil.

Kiri Kiri (Korea's Lesbian Rights Activist Organization)

Kiri Kiri is an activist lesbian group in South Korea  formed in 1994. Through community-supported activism they are commited to bringing about long-term social change for the human rights of lesbians living in this region. They direct their energy towards achieving visibility and have created the first lesbian magazine in Korea, Alternative World  that is published quarterly; organized a summer l/g/b/t rights retreat; and helped to establish the first lesbian bar to create a social gathering space for lesbians.

Krakow Committee for Human and Citizen Rights

This group was formed in 1991 to support lesbian women in the Krakow region of Poland and works to spread tolerance for homosexuality. They have participated in various conferences, including We Really Exist (national) and ILGA (international).  Additionally, they have produced leaflets on lesbian safe sex and published a series of articles for lesbians in a gay journal.

Lambda, Istanbul is an activist l/g/b/t group formed in 1993 as a result of a police ban on celebrating Christopher Street Day.  The organization is committed to supporting gays and lesbians in Turkey by developing their identity and working towards equality and liberation through advocacy and outreach. They publish a bi-monthly bulletin, have a weekly radio program called 100% GL and work together with the Aids Prevention Society.

National Coalition for Gay and Lesbian Equality

NCGLE was established in 1994 to coordinate existing lg/b/t groups in South Africa that were organizing to preserve the constitutional clause prohibiting discriminationon the basis of sexual orientation.  They currently have fifty-six affiliate members throughout Southern Africa.   Their new initiative, the Education Project, will focus on collecting information, coordinating services for youth and developing a model curriculum on the rights of l/g/b/t's youth in South Africa's educational system.

Private Charity Gay Association
Pinsk - 3, Belarus
Private Charity Gay Association was established in 1991 to bring together l/g/b/t's in the Former Soviet Republics.   This was accomplished by networking with other organizations, correspondence with individuals and collecting information through questionaires, and  support groups.  They convened meetings in over 70 cities to gather information on the lives of l/g/b/t's and to document their living conditions.  A report was distrbuted to all participants and presentations were made in Moscow.

Sociedad Integración Gay-Lésbica Argentina

SIGLA is a l/g/b/t group that was established in 1992 to advocate for the rights of sexual minorities in urban areas of Argentina. They successfully advocated for the inclusion of an antidiscriminatory clause in the Constitution of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. They have a weekly broadcast on the local radio; support groups for lesbians, gays, and low income youth covering health issues; and provide HIV prevention courses for teachers and the general community; and hand out information leaflets and condoms at local clubs and community centers.
