Meet a Grantee: National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Association (NQAPIA) (Washington, D.C.)
This Astraea movement building– initiative partner is a federation of 32 LGBT Asian American, South Asian and Pacific Islander organiza- tions from 14 cities across the U.S.. NQAPIA has made excellent head- way in strengthening local grassroots groups to develop a national voice challenging invisibility, homophobia, racism and anti-immigrant bias. Accomplishments include an historic national grassroots conference, a leadership training attended by 28 organizations and the first comprehensive report of API organizing.
