WHO'S WHO AT SPRING FEVER 2?

Alison De La Cruz is currently the Artistic Director of FilAm ARTS — also known as the Association for the Advancement of Filipino American Arts and Culture. A writer and theatre artist, De La Cruz just completed the premiere of her new multi-arist collaboration: "Where You Stay? Exploring the Nature of Los Angeles." She is also currently writing the book for a Musical collaboration between East West Players and the Academy for New Musical Theatre. In April 2005, De La Cruz performed a reading of her newest one-woman show "Naturally Graceful" as part of the Asian Theatre Workshop in the New Theatre for Now Festival presented by the Mark Taper Forum. A community-based artist as well, De La Cruz collaborated as poet and narrator on the feature-length documentary "Grassroots Rising: Asian American Working Families in Los Angeles," which premiered at the Asian Pacific Islander Film and Video Festival in May 2005.

SKIMSKIM is one of the most talented, intelligent, and unique voices to emerge from the underground Hip Hop scene within the last decade. Imagine Bahamadia's lyrical skills with an Etta James background singing backup as a Dear Mama era 2Pac adds words of wisdom. Yet this should be expected, for prior to her spirit giving birth to her flesh in NYC, SKIM's voice was born centuries ago amidst ancestors on the north side of Asia. That same spirit became displaced by the global noise of factories, turned refugee in search of silence, and took up residency in New York City. Recently relocated to Los Angeles, SKIM has decided to step up the shadow of her heritage. Whether opening up for KRS-One, conducting performance workshops with Leila Steinberg, 2Pac's mentor, in juvenile prisons, or dialoguing with Hip Hop Congress, SKIM's word resonates in your spine and reverberates in your bones with the bass of Korean drum. The silk sound of her song is beautifully juxtaposed by the abrasive reality of her lyrics, striking a chord deep in the heart of anyone willing to listen.

Adelina AnthonyAdelina Anthony is a multi-genre artist whose interests address issues ranging from queerness, feminism, violence, gender, race/ethnicity, sexuality, immigration, and community empowerment through progressive education and transgressive art. She is currently developing a jota-solo work entitled, "Bruising for Besos." She was fortunate to develop the first drafts of the work in Cherríe Moraga's playwriting courses. "Bruising for Besos" addresses domestic violence against women both in heterosexual and queer spaces. This piece marks the first in a trilogy of queer Xicana performance that attempts to recover cultural and familial memories, exposes communal and personal violence, invokes transnational indigenous spirituality and thought, and seeks to honor ceremony/ ritual as performative healing for the self/community.

Sweet Baby J'aiSweet Baby J'ai is a critically acclaimed vocalist and songwriter who has toured the world with her distinctive sound. She and her band have also performed extensively in the U.S., and have been featured at numerous festivals, clubs and benefits. She has shared the stage with such luminaries as The Jazz Crusaders, Patrice Rushen, Red Holloway, Etta James, Joe Sample, Koko Taylor, Frank Capp & the Juggernaut, Sheila E., Stanley Turrentine and the late Eddie Harris, to name a few. Some critics describe her as a "jazz singer", others as a "blues singer", but all agree that this versatile singer-songwriter is a "storyteller." Sweet Baby J'ai's debut release, The Art Of Blue, and latest release, Evolution on the Sunset Music label is a wonderful collection of blues, jazz and spoken word. She tackles diverse social issues, lost love and pays tribute to divas of the past.

Claudette Sexy DJWhether it's leading the Gay Parade every year or contributing her valuable time and effort to fundraisers at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center, Claudette Sexy DJ is tireless in her devotion to our community. A frequent entertainer at the Women's week/ Dinah Shore Tournament in Palm Springs, hers is an electric and wild party experience that can be measured by the excited screams of adulation from the large throngs of the womyn attending. Shouts of "SEXY DJ, SEXY DJ" follow her throughout her performances, and perform she does! When Claudette works a gig she doesn't stay away from the crowd, hidden in a booth like Ms. Coble's choices but rather she regularly gets down and works the crowd during the songs, cheering the party or club attendees on, making sure everyone has a memorable experience.
